The qualification has been specified by the sector skills council responsible for the adult care workforce, Skills for Care, in consultation with employers, learning providers and those who use services. This care leadership and management qualification is suitable for practitioners working in residential services for older people, and people with disabilities, domiciliary care services, day services, respite services and community based services. Managers in adult social care hold a pivotal position in ensuring that services can respond fully to the needs and aspirations of those who use their provision. Managers must ensure that their service can rise to the challenge of delivering person-centred support in the context of increasing demand, through strong leadership, a robust values base, commitment to partnership working, willingness to innovate and shrewd business acumen. Assessment
Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence compiled by the learner. Evidence can be gathered from recognition of prior learning, written assignments, reflective accounts, witness statements, direct questioning, observations of practice and workplace work products.
